The studio
Built from games
played with friends.
Blue Grey Games is an independent studio making in-person game days, group tools, and short interactive stories.
One developer, several tested ideas, and a lot still to build. Why it exists
The rules begin the day. The players make it memorable.
I am a developer who likes telling stories, making rules, and building tools that let a group do something more ambitious than a normal game night.
Some Blue Grey Games projects send friends across a city. Others fit around a table, travel with a weekend away, or live entirely on a phone. The common thread is not where they happen. It is giving people a structure they can make their own.
Software belongs where a live game needs memory, coordination, invitations, or fast arithmetic. It should help the host play too, then get out of the way.
The history
Nine years of trying things in public and private.
- 2017
The first Gauntlet
A signup and game-creation site supported the first player-built game day.
- 2018
Gauntlet goes live
A second run added an online leaderboard during the event.
- 2019
Captain
A rotating game layer joined a multi-day gathering.
- 2022
Two new formats
Everything Is Game and the first Field Day explored different ways software and live play could meet.
- 2024-25
Field Day returns
Two more events gave the bracket and game draft room to evolve.
- 2026
A real studio
After Gauntlet returned, the one-off experiments became a serious attempt to build Blue Grey Games.
AI and the work
A practical tool, used openly.
For now, AI helps me accomplish things I never dreamed possible in the limited time I have. I use it across code, organization, early visual direction, and drafts, then review and take responsibility for what Blue Grey Games publishes.
As the studio grows, I hope to employ talented artists, designers, and writers who share these creative dreams. AI is helping one person get started; it is not a substitute for the people I hope can eventually help make the work better.
Work together
Interested in the same kinds of games?
I would like to meet artists, writers, designers, developers, hosts, and playtesters who find something interesting here. Blue Grey Games is not hiring or commissioning paid production work yet, and I will not ask for unpaid spec work. But a conversation now could lead somewhere when the studio is ready.
